Logistics Manager – Retail
Role Purpose:
To lead and manage the Department, defining, developing and implementing construction and maintenance plans, policies and procedures that meet the needs of the Business
Key Responsibilities:
Define, develop and implement Logistics plans, policies and procedures in line with corporate Logistics strategy in order to support the achievement of overall business objectives. Ensure the effective implementation of plans, policies and procedures through leadership of a specialist Logistics Department team - setting goals and objectives, managing performance, developing and motivating employees - in order to ensure the highest levels of performance are achieved. Manage annual allocated budget, managing expenditure up to set limits, optimising and reducing costs where possible and reporting variances versus budget, in order to ensure effective cost management. Provide professional consultancy, advice and guidance to internal customers on logistics issues in order to ensure that high standards in logistics practice are achieved and maintained. Oversee the development of policy and procedure improvements in order to ensure the ongoing development of logistics provision and standards. Evaluate and cost/quality optimise the logistics network on an ongoing basis in order to ensure best value logistics services are provided to the business Develop and maintain good working relationships with both other departments and with external agencies and suppliers in order to support the smooth provision of logistics services across the organisation. Liaise regularly with senior business management in order to understand ongoing business activities and developments and the implications this will have for co-ordinated logistics provision Attend and contribute to business planning and decision making meetings in order to communicate effectively within the organisation and provide Logistics input and support to overall business decision making Prepare management information reports in order to ensure that Senior Business Managers have the relevant information needed to support strategic decision-making. Personally resolve critical logistics problems in order to ensure contractual commitments are met and any operational impact is minimised Research and monitor activities and trends in logistics supply markets in order to ensure informed commercial decision making on supplier identification, selection and pricing. Negotiate with key suppliers and logistics service providers on contract issues in order to ensure best value purchasing terms are obtained.
